Deik Ceramic Knives Ultra Sharp Kitchen Ceramic Cutlery Knife Set Include a 3" Fruit Knife, 4"Utility Knife, 5"Slicer Knife, 6"Chef Knife with a Peeler (White)
UPDATED - The kind folks Teni provided me with this Deik Ceramic Knife Set (in White) in exchange for sharing my unbiased review...
We've had this knife set in use for over two months and are impressed with them. They haven't dulled a bit since our use. They slice through foods like butter; fast, easy, and smoothly. These are very sharp!
They arrived in a box suitable for gift giving and without any chemical smell. Included are a 6" Chef Knife, 5" Slicer Knife, 4" Utility Knife, 3" Paring Knife & Knife Block. The handles have really nice grip to them and are a nice size for easy dexterity of cutting (for both my small hands and my husband's large hands).
The small footprint of the holder is nice on our counter since we have a small kitchen but the holder does look cheap up close (it's made of shiny plastic). They include thin clear knife sleeves if you want to safely store them in a drawer instead.
The peeler is also ceramic and sharp. Personally, I don't care for brand names being all over my knives, like others we own. These are nice in that they are plain and simple and without all of the brand markings.
We hand wash them because hand washing helps preserve the sharpness of good knives and these are worth the effort to us. These are sharper than any of our other knives (we don't own any expensive high end knives though).
I almost rated them down for the holder being cheap, light plastic but we do like it's design and I definitely feel these are 5 star knives. Highly recommended. I think for their current price of under $35 for the set, these are a good value (worth paying a bit more for verses the coated stainless others we own).
I will say, I'm in my mid-thirties and have been cooking since I was young, without any memorable/ serious accidents. I have cut myself twice with these knives and pretty badly. Be careful because they slice easier than others we're used to, including fingers!
Uploading some photos so you can get a closer look and feel for their size (I'll spare you the cut fingers photos). Smile. Hope this is helpful!
UPDATE - 8/16/16, My husband warned me that the downside of ceramic knives is how fragile they can be. I've been careful but impressed with how they've held up. I accidentally dropped one into our stainless steel sink from the sink rack above and was pleased it hadn't broken...
About a week later, we found one of the mid-size knives had a chip in the knife, near the handle. Not sure how it happened but thought it was worth noting.
Edited from 5 stars to 4. I still recommend them as they're super sharp, nice for the price but they do require some care.
