KingTop Herb Spice Grinder Large 3.0 Inch Red
The folks at KingTop were kind enough to provide me with this herb grinder in exchange for sharing my unbiased review...
When I showed my husband this item in my orders, he laughed at me. We don't use tobacco or drugs so I guess I was naive to order this, lol! We don't own a mortar and pestle or any type of grinder for spices, so I jumped on ordering this without reading much about it.
I love fennel seed, freshly ground, over steaks before putting them under the broiler. I thought this would work for that but I'd only really recommend it for it's other intended purposes...
I'm uploading some photos so you can get a better look. This is a very clever and well made product. The top layer is strongly magnetized, making it easy to grind and then the lower chambers screw on. A small spatula is also included.
You can see from the pictures how little I was able to fully grind down to actual ground spice... The bit it worked to grind down smelled wonderful but I wouldn't use this to try to grind down much more. I did turn it upside down while grinding so nothing just fell through without enough opportunity to be ground down.
My intention was to put the ground fennel seed into a travel size shaker (puchased from another retailer) but I got so little from this test, I didn't bother. As said, I'm sure it's likely to be effective for other purposes with anything much larger than fennel seeds.
5 stars for quality. Nice heavy weight; screens, seals, and all seem well made. 3 stars for grinding the spice I tried it on... I rated it 4 stars overall. Beautiful red color and would make a nice gift for someone with different needs than mine. Smile. Hope this is helpful!
