The folks at Roybens were kind enough to offer me this 2 in 1 car mount in exchange for sharing my unbiased review...
I really wasn't expecting anything sturdy at the low price they had this item listed for.... Originally I was quite pleasantly surprised! The directions to put it together were on the outside of the box and it was simple to do in less than a few minutes.
We were impressed with the thing, having owned a phone mount for the same price of this one and it was pretty much useless! This model is nice because the suction cup is super strong and it will easily fit a large phone.
Easily opens or closes, very nicely designed, and user friendly to boot! Simple design and perfect for the windshield. The suction cup hasn't marked up the car or anything.
I'd rate this 5 stars on the windshield but I hadn't tried it yet on the vent. Unfortunately, the part that grips the phone, broke after about three weeks of use. Basically the spring loaded portion inside must have given in, so it won't hold the phone anymore.
The rubber grips that hold the phone in place were nice compared to others we've tried. Some are too shallow so you have to place your phone in just right but this one is deep enough to accommodate your phone even with a thick case on.
I rated it 2 stars overall because it was a good mount while it lasted but I can't recommend it to anyone since it didn't hold up for long.
