Having just experienced a power outage here in Washington, this power bank kept my phone charged and in a position to reach family members when I otherwise would have had a dead cell phone battery!
I hadn't precharged this device but it was daytime when the power went out so I just put it face up under a skylight window to take advantage of the light while we had it. It was not at all sunny so I'm really not positive how effective that was being that it was stormy and overcast. It seemed to be precharged anyway, thankfully!
I plugged my phone in while it was facing that window and continued to use my phone online. Being that cable was out, I couldn't use appliances, and my husband was working, I didn't have a whole lot to do, lol!
It wasn't long before Internet, including via my mobile carrier, went out as well. My phone battery had already been in the single digit percentile when the power went out.
Plugging in took me from 5% to 56% power while using my phone online and then to check in with various family members that evening.
After the sun went down the power bank did as well, soon after. I think if I had put my phone in airplane mode or turned it off while charging, it may have gotten a full charge and lasted through the night for emergency calls. It lasted me until 10 pm though and definitely had me covered for the day!
My husband sells medical equipment so he had to do a lot of emergency oxygen tank deliveries that night and almost ran out of gas making it home. This powerbank really worked out to provide us both with a lot of peace of mind since we were able to communicate through his 13 hour day in stormy weather conditions.
Quite pleased! In the future I'll be more careful to have another powerbank charged being that we have a few, lol! I guess that's how it goes sometimes... This is definitely a fantastic purchase for anyone who wants to be prepared regardless of circumstances!
It's exterior is a bit similar to an otterbox as you'll see in photos I'm uploading. Excellent design and user friendly to boot. Perfect for camping or just everyday use. For reference, I have an HTC One M8 cell phone with a 2600 mAh battery, not a small battery to charge.
Should the capability of this powerbank or the quality in any way wear down with time, I will be sure to update this review. Based on my first use though, I would definitely say that you can buy with confidence. Smile. Hope this is helpful!
