The folks at Guokai were kind enough to provide me with this pepper mill in exchange for sharing my unbiased review...
This is an excellent product and still working like new after over two months of use. The stainless steel shines nicely and matches well with our appliances. No issues with the turning mechanisms as of yet but will update if it becomes problematic.
Upon first use we didn't see any difference in the coarse vs fine grind but then realized our error. It's not a matter of the direction you turn the top. It's which direction you turn the low profile bottom section (labeled for grind selection), that sets your preference. Then you can turn the top both directions and get whichever size salt or pepper you prefer.
Love the smaller size as it fits on the bottom plate of our two tier lazy susan. Still fits plenty of peppercorns though, we've filled it once in over two months of use and still have some left.
