My mom is a retired RN and has owned MANY different types and brands of eye masks. Most irritate her face because of her A-pap machine straps and her sensitive skin. Since she loves these things, I'm often shopping for them for her...
I've given her the scented kind, filled with herbs, that can be warmed up in the microwave... The type filled with gel that can be cooled... One expensive one just because it looked comfy... But they all just hang from a hook by her bed.
When the kind folks from Smarter Rest offered this product at a discount, in exchange for my unbiased review... I, of course, for my mom's sake, couldn't say no.
Fortunately, I was quite pleasantly surprised. What makes this mask especially different than all her others is first the wide, stretchy straps. It is fully adjustable, via velcro, and it's actually comfortable against the skin! No hard pieces pinching or rubbing on your face when you roll over.
Second, this doesn't actually press on your eyes. Example, I could probably fall asleep with makeup on and not smear my eye makeup all over. I'll update this review after more use (I've only used it makeup free so far, lol) but it's definitely different than others she has. They kind of cup over the eyes, just a bit, not firmly though, if that makes sense.
Third, you press gently over the bridge of your nose and it takes shape to your face, to actually block ALL of the light out! This in itself makes this a 5 star product for me.
My husband also having sleep apnea, his snoring often keeps me up. The set of ear plugs that fit into the strap were a nice added touch by the manufacturer. Perfect for travel with the included case.
All of that said, this is my first time owning an eye mask (since always seeing the problems my mom's all had, ha!).... And being that I love this, my mom has yet to try it out. Lol. I'll be ordering her one next though! Smile. I know she'll love these.
