The folks at PureBeauty were kind enough to provide me with this Green Tea Konjac Sponge in exchange for sharing my unbiased review...
I was really reluctant to try this, initially, because it's made in China and I was afraid (in spite of it being advertised both here and on the box for its purity) that it might contain chemicals that may harm my skin.
I've used steeped green tea leaves in my facial moisturizer before and not reacted to it but I've always had sensitive skin. It's just been in the last few years that I've overcome the majority of my adult acne. Like any woman, I value my face, lol.
After my husband reassured me about the sponge itself being natural, I finally braved trying it out in the shower. I soaked it with warm water and thought it might expand but it stayed about the same size. It's small and fits comfortably in my hands.
The shape is rounded on one side and slightly imploded on the other, making it perfect for sweeping over and under the curvature of the face. I expected the exfoliation of it to be similar to a rough type of shower cloth I received from a friend from Thailand (it's very exfoliating but a little rough on the skin of my face)...
This was surprisingly quite different! Once soaked, it became soft to the touch. It glides around easily and the feel is really exhilarating. I didn't use any facial cleanser with it because I wanted to test it out on it's own to be sure I didn't have a reaction.
All on it's own, I felt it to be luxurious and really comforting. It felt so soft I almost thought it might crumble apart in my hand by the time I was done using it. I only ran it over my face as long as I'd normally wash and when I was done, I was surprised it still looked like before I started using it.
I didn't need to apply a lot of pressure to feel that it was beneficial and when done I pressed the excess water out and hung it up to dry. I'm not sure yet how long it will last but I'll be sure to update my review with my thoughts after more use.
I wouldn't say it does miracles, lol but I will say that it feels awesome! Better than anything else I've felt. I was a beauty consultant for over ten years so I've tried my good share of products. I haven't tried one of those skin rollers, lol because upon receiving one, the needles just didn't look at all appealing to me. This though, once passed my fears of any possible bad ingredients, I would recommend to others for sure.
Uploading some photos so you can get a closer look. Smile. Buy with confidence. Hope this is helpful!
