MAXTOMARS Pen Size Mini Air Humidifier Portable USB Charging Cool Mist Diffuser (White) (Kitchen)
The folks at Maxtomars were kind enough to provide me with this travel diffuser in exchange for sharing my unbiased review...
This idea of this product is pretty awesome. It doesn't take up a lot of real estate on the nightstand or wherever you care to use it. There is a single setting for turning it on and in our opinion, the cool mist is as sufficient as our regular size diffusers.
Ours took six minutes to start up for the first time (rather than three per the instructions; the cotton needs to initially get saturated with water). I like that you can see the water lever without opening anything up.
This item is made in China and the overall design is modern. It comes in a box just a bit larger than a check box. It's nice enough to gift and because it's sturdy, I'll probably upcycle the box for organizing.
It's also a functional design in that you can place it in a glass or bottle that would vary the angle it diffuses at so you can point it wherever you like. Per the product description, adding essential oils is not recommended because it's not made to support them.
So why the three stars? A few small gripes... First, the power switch lights up flashing blue in standby mode or solid when in use. The only way to turn the bright little light off is to unplug the cord. It's bright enough that I don't want it on while asleep and there's no auto shut off (unless you run out of water).
Second, the power switch/ light is in the middle of the USB cable. So if that cable breaks, you can't just use any other USB cable.
Third, it comes with two cotton pieces. After a few uses, I'd be concerned of mildew or similar growth in the cotton and be concerned about what is being diffused into the air. These cotton pieces are not listed to be 'filters'.
Lastly, I was super reluctant to put an electronic item into a glass of water; call me paranoid, lol. I read a ton of reviews on similar type products before testing this and feeling okay to run with it.
The wider top end is the electronic portion so that does stay dry so long as you don't tip your glass over. I wouldn't leave the room with this running though, even just to run to the bathroom, with fear of it spilling over and any possible fire hazard.
I've had this item for over two months but haven't used it a whole lot for the above reasons. Should my opinion of it change after more use, I'll be sure to update this review.
Uploading some photos so you can get a closer look and an idea of it's size. Super convenient concept, especially for travel, but I'm a bit hesitant to recommend it. I think it's just okay. Smile. Hope this is helpful!
