The folks at MsBasic were kind enough to provide me with this High Waisted Pleated Skirt With Pockets (color: Black Striped, size: Medium) in exchange for sharing my unbiased review...
First off, this is my first time ordering anything from this seller and this brand so I wasn't sure about their sizing. Based on the size info in the product description I could have ordered a Large but sized down because of a reviewer's recommendation. If you're in the same boat as me, I'd suggest going with the larger size...
For reference, I'm 5'2". I typically wear a size 6, 32C bust, 29" waist, and am pear shaped with 38" hips. This is indeed stretchy around the waistband (it's elastic) and I think it would be more flattering if I had gone off of the size chart.
The cut is very classy and it's lined about 2/3 of the way down, you don't need a slip. I also really like the length. I don't care for the pleats but that's because of my hips and again, if I had a larger size (although this fits and I do have a high waist), I think it would fall more gracefully on me.
In the product photo, on the model in this color scheme, the waist band elastic in back is not noticeable because it's black. The one I received is white and personally, I don't think it looks nice revealed so I wouldn't wear this with a shirt tucked in. With a shirt over it, it just looks frumpy on me because of the pleats all around.
Unfortunately, not a keeper for me. My husband commented it looked like some sort of costume. Maybe because of it's fullness. I love the fabric and think it's weight and overall quality is excellent if I had the right fit.
