Readyfoody Meal Prep Containers 10 Sets

The folks at Readyfoody were kind enough to provide me with a set of 10 of these bento box meal prep containers in exchange for sharing my unbiased review...

These arrived in a box suitable for gift giving and without any chemical smell. When I ordered these, I thought 10 lidded containers with 10 sets of plastic cutlery might be a good value for under $20 and if we like them, we'd likely order more. Unfortunately, I do not think these are a good value and I would not order them again.

I'm not rating these on price though as that can always change. The lids fit tightly when pressed all around, they are not the type that quickly snap on though. These are listed as being leak resistant in the description but I wouldn't recommend them for packing soup or anything that might actually leak.

None of the ones in my set arrived cracked but these are comparable to what you receive for take out from a nice restaurant. Slightly better plastic but still flexible enough that if dropped, you'd have a mess to clean up.

We've had ours in use for over four months but haven't used them in lieu of actual tupperware. We've used these to send family and friends home with extra food from dinner events. They are nice in that they are divided and hold a decent amount of food but personally, I do not want to use them for daily use.

If you've done any recent research on BPA free labeling, you may have read, as I have, that many flexible plastics actually test high in levels of BPA (or other toxic hormone disruptors and whatnot), despite their labeling. For this reason, I do not microwave, freeze or put any flexible plastics in the dishwasher. Even if they don't melt, they can still leach stuff into my body that is more than questionable.

These are thin and definitely not thick enough for me to want to risk trying to heat or freeze them. I have handwashed and reused a couple but for the most part, I'd consider these best for cooled or dry foods and for disposable use.

Nice size but they do not fit a whole sandwhich in the largest portion size. At just under $20, I think there are better options available here. These are nice in that they are stackable but we've purchased disposable sets with attached lids for much less. There are also Rubbermaid tupperware sets that provide twice as many pieces for less and will last for years.

Two stars because they weren't broken. If they were any sturdier, I'd rate them 3 stars but these are pretty flimsy for the cost. The plastic cutlery is nice but still just that, plastic cutlery. For twenty dollars, I'd expect more than nice disposable take out boxes.

Uploading some photos so you can get a closer look. If the price on these were to drop significantly, I'd recommend them for light, disposable use only. Hope this is helpful!
