Secret Outlast Completely Clean Scent Women's Clear Gel Antiperspirant & Deodorant 2.6 Oz
The folks at BzzAgent provided me with this deodorant in exchange for sharing my unbiased thoughts...
I'm not typically a fan of P&G products because of their past with fighting for deceptive labeling practices of GMO foods. I also don't typically wear deodorant with parabens but I always keep one antiperspirant on hand because the paraben free stuff unfortunately doesn't work the best for sweaty days!
Secret Outlast® Xtend's 48 hr protection gel deodorant dries fast and works well! My husband absolutely loves the smell! From the stick itself, the gel smells very much like melon, although after I put it on, it dries to more of a floral smell (it still smells good in our opinion)!
I also really love how when I open the drawer it's in, I can already smell it, it's like an air freshener for my dresser drawer, lol! Two to three clicks under each arm is plenty and does indeed last nicely.
It wasn't until I learned about parabens and went completely paraben free (face care, hair care, deodorant, body products, hand wash, and makeup) that I cleared up my skin issues. I made the switch because breast cancer is on both sides of my family and parabens are found in tumors (commonly in deodorants and proven to be found in the underarms!)
If you're unfamiliar with them, they're usually towards the end of ingredient lists, like: methylparaben, propylparaben, etc. They are preservatives that make products have a longer shelf life, like 7 or more years, great for manufacturers but not for me because they are also hormone disruptors!
They're actually illegal in many other countries but unfortunately are not yet here in the US. Many manufacturers are finally getting with it and removing them; thank goodness! Off my soapbox, lol.
This deodorant doesn't list the full ingredient list anywhere on the product. Only the active ingredient, starting with aluminum - again, not great for you but it works if fighting odor is what you need most.
Here are the ingredients (for the 'completely clean' scent in the Clear Gel formula), from Secret's website:
Active Ingredient: Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex Gly
Inactive Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Stearyl Alcohol, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, PPG-14 Butyl Ether, Cyclodextrin, Petrolatum, Phenyl Trimethicone, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Talc, Fragrance, Ozokerite, Behenyl Alcohol, Panthenyl Triacetate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Acetyl Glucosamine
Products that are Paraben free are typically advertised as such on the front of the product and this one is not. I usually wear the safe stuff daily and antiperspirant only on long days where I might need the added protection.
This product is good for the extra protection and nice scent but not the safest (more natural) choice to avoid toxins and chemicals that may cause safety concerns. Choose at your own risk! Smile. Hope this is helpful!
