SojoS Fashion Designer Inspired Transparent Oversized Square Women Sunglasses SJ2732 With Brown Frame/Brown Lens
The folks at Sojos Vision were kind enough to provide me with these sunglasses (in purple and grey) in exchange for sharing my unbiased review...
I'd rate these sunglasses 5 stars based on their look, feel, and size and I think they're a great value if delivered as advertised. My problem may not be applicable to most people but I'll share it anyway...
I have Pityriasis alba. Basically, when I was a teenager, I spent a day of vacation at the pool, on an overcast day, without sunblock. It was only 69 degrees and cloudy, so I didn't think it was a big deal but the UV index wasn't low so I burned badly and peeled.
The skin around the eye area, being the thinnest and most sensitive on the body, didn't do so well. I went to the doctor because around my eyes I had spots that stayed white, like an albino, and wouldn't tan like the rest of my skin anymore. It would only turn neon pink if I got any sun or stay white.
Since then, I've learned the importance of not only sun block but also good eye protection. I own sunglasses that are quite expensive, polarized, prescription, with all the added features for blocking glare while driving, etc. I also own cheap ones that I use for backup so I always have some handy.
Main thing is, for me, they have to be big, to cover the outer sides of my eyes, where the sun damage is. The first time I wore these sunglasses and was outside on a sunny day, my skin around my right eye was peeling (haven't had any peeling for the last 20 years)...
My husband suggested maybe it was a skincare or eye makeup problem. Obviously with it only happening on one side, it's a bit strange, but I hadn't used any new products or used anything old or bad. After a couple weeks of healing, I thought I'd test these out again and had the same outcome. Skin peeling on my right side.
Both lenses look identical to our eyes but I don't know a whole lot about how UV protection works. It is my understanding though that it's not expensive for manufacturers to make 100% UV protecting lenses so it's not necessary to have the most expensive pair.
Unfortunately, as much as I love these, I won't wear them again and can't recommend them to others. 2 stars because they look nice. Hopefully, I just received a bad pair but with my skin, I can't chance any more problems. Hope this helps.
