Songmics 2 Panel Set Blackout Curtain Thermal Insulated Window Drapes Solid Grommet 52 by 84 inch Beige ULRB210E (Kitchen)
UPDATED - The folks at Songmics Direct were kind enough to provide me with this Pair of Blackout Curtains (Thermal Insulated Window Drapes Solid Grommet 52 by 84 inch Beige ULRB210E) in exchange for sharing my unbiased review...
First off, just to eliminate any confusion, in the description it says, 'We offered set of 2 window panels on a standard or decorative rod for optimal coverage curtains'. These do not come with a rod.
That aside, they arrived as advertised and pictured. These are 100% Polyester and I'm uploading a photo with the wash instructions. The fabric is wonderfully soft and feels like a thick, smooth microfiber. It has no sheen.
We've purchased 5 other sets of 'blackout curtains' from another online retailer so I can speak to comparison. These are nicer than those in the same $20-25 price range.
Normally I'd wash curtains before hanging them but these look pretty good out of the packaging and I'm going to see how they do just putting them up. I don't foresee needing to steam these because of their weight. The wrinkles from the folds are light and I don't think they'll last long.
These curtains are a standard 84" long. I normally prefer the 95" length because I like the look of curtains that pool on the floor. Some prefer them to brush the floor or to hang them up higher. The puddled look provides a more romantic look. I hung one of these panels on a rod next to a 95" panel for the sake of this review (our ceiling is standard height but the rod is hung pretty high).
These curtains have metal grommets at the top for hanging them with a nice chrome looking finish. What I like about grommets is that you can hide your curtain rod brackets by putting the last grommet on each end, outside of the bracket. This gives a clean look. They also glide across the curtain rod quickly and easily when needed.
I rated these curtains 4 stars, although they're the nicest we've owned in this price range, they are not completely blackout (the other panel pictured is but also costs more than twice the price of these). The stitching appears to be professionally done but mine have one loose seam (pictured). They do insulate drafts and block light pretty well.
Adding photos so you can see them up close and in full. They are a nice, neutral, shade of beige that would work well with most decor and match our cream leather couches perfectly. I would pay the current full price for these if we needed more.
We would recommend these curtains to others. I will be sure to update this review later down the road should they not hold up well. Smile. Hope this is helpful!
UPDATE - Awesome customer service! I did not complain or request a replacement of these (due to a single loose seam) but after posting my review, the seller commented below. They updated the product description for the concern I mentioned in my review and noted they'd be reviewing their quality control...
A couple days later I was surprised to find I'd received another set in the mail. After carefully looking over the second set, there are no loose seams. Updated my review to 5 stars. Good customer service is too hard to come by these days and a seller who cares about their customers and takes action on issues mentioned in reviews is awesome in my book. Bravo!
